Mediation
Mediation is an informal process that does not impose a resolution to a dispute and only becomes binding with the consent of all of the parties. Mediation allows the parties the freedom to explore ways of settling the dispute with the assistance of an impartial and independent person (the mediator). It is essentially a process in which the mediator assists in negotiations between the parties to arrive at a settlement. Palestra
Palestra offers a very particular response to the speculative office. It offers simple traditional office space wrapped around a central core with floor-to-ceiling glazing and great views. It allows for multi-occupancy, but has in fact been taken by a single tenant - a sign of its successfully simple response to the standard brief. It is a marker building that jauntily pokes its head forward to claim glimpses of the river. Through sheer physical presence and scale it brings an unpromising site to the attention of all, making it the subject of debate. The speculative office has been challenged. Traffic Tag ...
Villa in the Var
Villa Jones is beautifully situated on a south-facing hillside overlooking the valley of the Var. All the spaces in the villa are strung out behind a unifying pergola, creating a long axis - from the fireplace of the snug winter sitting room at the west, to the shower at the end of the swimming pool at the east. The villa is rooted in the local vernacular, albeit with a modern edge, which is why it was so unpopular with the local planners, a problem finally solved when the Bâtiments de France (the French equivalent of English Heritage) gave it their support. With good reason, for this rustic villa is a distinguished contemporary example in a long tradition aspiring to achieve the bucolic ideal. Traffic Tag ...
