Understanding and addressing microaggressions

Learn more about what microaggressions are and how to address them in the architectural profession with our resources toolkit.

What's in this toolkit?

Architects design buildings for people. However, every creative journey requires collaboration at all levels – engagement with colleagues in practice every day; with clients, the community and, as the RIBA Work Stages progress, with contemporaries in the construction industry.

In this toolkit, we’ll define the term microaggressions, provide examples and then offer positive responses and strategies to not only deal with them on a personal level, but also to mitigate them on a profession-wide level. This commitment aligns with the ethos of RIBA, championing not only architectural innovation but also the cultivation of an equitable and supportive community for all its members.
