Award RIBA South East Award 2024. Nominated for House of the Year Award 2024
The Hall is an extraordinary Grade II* listed 16th century residence, with Grade II listed barns and outbuildings, set just outside the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) in the foothills of the Kent Downs. The key challenge of the project brief was to create a sustainable home for life which would enhance the forgotten character of the main house, as well as that of the surrounding cluster of historical barns. Working collaboratively with the client, the architects achieved this with finesse, delivering a scheme in which the history of the place can be clearly read alongside carefully considered new interventions. Finely crafted detailing and innovative use of space create a beautiful and functional family home, enhancing the historical character while adding new design using contemporary and traditional techniques.
