Barbican marketing brochure

The papers of architectural practice Chamberlin Powell & Bon in our collections include over 150 folders on the Barbican Estate, their best known project, ranging from acoustic reports to contract correspondence, meeting papers and handwritten notes.

Among newspaper clippings and press packs from the development is this brochure marketing its flats for let, with plans illustrating the available apartment types. The flats promised luxury kitchens replete with refuse disposal system, underfloor heating and an interior fully decorated "in one of three standard colour schemes", from £375 a year for a studio (about £5,300 in today's money).
