RIBA Norman Foster travelling scholarship

We are now welcoming nominations from schools of architecture across the globe for the RIBA Norman Foster travelling scholarship 2025. Worth £9,000, the scholarship supports international travel on a research topic related to the sustainable future of cities.

Each school may nominate one student only. Nominees must demonstrate the potential for outstanding achievement and original thinking on issues that relate to the survival and the future of cities.

Eligibility

To be eligible, students must have successfully completed at least the first year of a professional qualification in architecture in a higher education institution invited by RIBA. Find out the full list of invited schools.

Please note that nominations for this scholarship are made by the schools of architecture invited (and countersigned by the head of school) and not directly by individual students. If you wish to apply, we recommend that you contact your tutor or head of school and express your interest in being nominated.

How to apply

If you are nominated by your school, please read the guidance notes (PDF) carefully before submitting your online nomination as they contain important details about the information you need to provide.

To access the online application form, follow the instructions to register for an account first, and then select the ‘RIBA Norman Foster Travelling Scholarship 2025’ form. You will receive an automated email notification upon submission of your nomination.

The deadline for applications is 1pm (BST) 19 May 2025. Applications will not be accepted after this time.
