International week

International week

3 to 7 July 2017

RIBA International Week aims to be a voice for optimism, internationalism and the sharing of ideas around the theme of the New Urban Agenda, the United Nation’s global strategy on goals for sustainable development and housing over the coming two decades.

The centerpiece of the week, our Change in the City conference is a call to arms coupled with practical actions for architects and practices working in cities around the world. The conference brings together a host of key speakers including Dr Joan Clos, UN Executive Director, world-renowned architects Sir David Chipperfield, Francis Kéré and Ma Yansong, as well as urbanists and sociologists.

For the first time in history, more of us are living in cities than beyond them: urbanisation is very much a 21st century issue, with even urban success bringing its own problems of overcrowding and escalating property prices.

Times are changing, and so must our profession. To make a difference, we need to work differently. To do that, we must think differently. How can architects think creatively and showcase their skills so that the profession remains relevant?
