Whether you’re a budding photographer or a complete novice, make sure you join us this summer as we host a series of photography courses and workshops for adults. Drawing inspiration from the RIBA’s collection of architectural photography, you’ll develop critical and creative skills to capture lasting images of the built environment. We’ll be exploring the technical side of photography in our weekend masterclass, developments and the changing face of London in our photo walk and the body’s relationship to architectural space in our day course. So, pick up a camera, get outside and be inspired and challenged by the built environment.
For students and adults aged 18 and over. Online booking in advance is essential. To book onto any of the workshops below, please follow the Buy Tickets link on the event's web page.
Architectural Photography Masterclass
Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 May 2019
Develop your own creative practice on our weekend masterclass. In collaboration with the British Library, we’ll take inspiration from the extensive photographic collections of the RIBA and explore them with a behind-the-scenes curator session. We’ll then put theory into practice by focusing our cameras on the iconic buildings of both the RIBA and the British Library.
Architectural Photo Walk: King's Cross St Pancras
Saturday 8 June 2019
Explore one of London’s largest re-development zones and discover some of London’s newest and dynamic public spaces. We will begin the day looking at books and articles from the RIBA Library Collections to assess and review developments across the King’s Cross locality. Then we will head off site and take up the challenge of capturing a series of our own lasting images.
Shifting Boundaries with Photography
Saturday 22 June 2019
Challenge conventional ideas of boundaries through photography. Taking inspiration from the RIBA’s photographic collections and through playful interventions with a professional dancer and parkour athlete, you’ll explore the dynamic relationship between photography, the human body and architectural space.
We run creative workshops for adults that explore architecture through various media throughout the year. To see these other events, please see our upcoming learning programme for adults.
