RIBA Offer
Throughout 2025, we will be developing a series of Working Internationally Information sessions online, for those markets we have identified, either through our market insights research (Browse our page on Opportunities in overseas markets) or those identified by the UK Government.
Delivered in collaboration with the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), British Embassies overseas, local professional institutes of architects, and members who have worked/ are working in those markets, the purpose of these sessions will be to explore why the market is important for RIBA, and give you tips on how to operate in the market, and find out what opportunities and help are available.
The sessions will be available as live webinars but recorded to create an information library for members and Chartered Practices on RIBA Academy.
We will be looking at the following markets: Europe, Canada, Malaysia, Singapore, India, Australia, and Mexico in these webinars.

A lot of information is available on the UK Government's website , for those wanting to export their services, whether you are new or have experience. You can get guidance on how to research export markets or sign up for seminars and webinars on starting to export or exporting to new markets
Are you new to Export?
Market selection - this resource provides you guidance to choose the most suitable export market for your services.
Market Guides - provide information on your target export market. You can filter by sector, region or country to see the markets best suited to your service.
The UK Export Academy - this free online training programme delivered by international trade specialists. It provides useful resources that can support your business to grow by giving you the confidence and know-how to land your first, or next overseas deal.

Ready to export?
You can use DBT's Export Support Service to access international market export support, designed to provide relevant support for UK companies, depending on what stage of their exporting journey they are at.
Eligible UK businesses can access trade expertise and knowledge on exporting to specific countries from the DBT global network of international market hubs which spans 110 countries across 9 regions.
Businesses referred to a regional hub can expect to receive:
- access to a wide range of sector reports, market intelligence, and guides related to things to consider on exporting to those markets
- introductions to a network of private sector service providers to help businesses with issues on a commercial basis, including local accountants, legal experts, and sector specialists
Eligibility criteria
To be considered for one-to-one support, businesses should have a:
- turnover of £500,000 or more
- product or service ready to export
Businesses should also have some experience of exporting already and be looking to enter or expand to a new market.
If you qualify, you will then be put in touch with the DBT Export Support Service International Market teams which are based globally, and can provide insights and guidance to export-ready UK businesses.
International Trade Advisers (ITA)
ITAs assist export-ready small and medium sized businesses to develop and deliver their export strategy by providing 1-2-1 specialist advice to businesses in England, outside of London.
- ITAs provide impartial, strategic advice - working with small businesses to design their export action plans
- Connect businesses to opportunities around the world - leveraging their network across DBT with local and international stakeholders around the world to help clients win business overseas
- Specialist, expert advice - ITAs have commercial background and apply their wealth of knowledge and experience to supporting businesses, as well as on specialist topics such as digital trade strategies.
