On 9th to 11th November, the RIBA hosted a physical stand and held its Cityscape Intelligence Talks Powered by RIBA at the Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo 2020.

For the 20th edition of Cityscape, RIBA was announced as the inaugural headline sponsor for the dq (design quarter) at the Dubai Exhibition Centre for Expo 2020.

The exhibition consisted of two Cityscape Intelligence Talks powered by RIBA with the topics, 'Architecture case study: The new and improved Sharjah / Sharjah's iconic architecture' and 'Learning from sustainable architecture - case studies from the region and beyond.'

The panel discussion on the architecture case study of 'The new and improved Sharjah / Sharjah's Iconic Architecture' delivered insights to Cityscape visitors about the design and flexibility of the recent projects that incorporate Sharjah’s culture and USP and tackled projects that are most difficult to curate given Sharjah’s landscape and weather. The panel also highlighted the newly opened projects in the city consisting of House of Wisdom by Fosters+Partners, Buhais Geology Park by Hopkins, Al Faya Lodge, and Spa by ANARCHITECT.

The sharing session on 'Learning from sustainable architecture case studies from the region and beyond,' discussed the importance of sustainability and architecture in the current climate and future trends in green designs. The panel also shared how the GCC architects incorporate sustainability into their designs.

The event was moderated by RIBA Director of International, Azlina Bulmer.
