The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) is welcoming funding applications from architecture students enrolling in RIBA Part 2 courses or other postgraduate studies (such as academic Masters programmes) in the academic year 2018/19.

The Institute is making available a total of £41,000 from the following schemes:

  • Five RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships worth £6,000 each
  • One RIBA AHR Stephen Williams Scholarship worth £6,000
  • One RIBA Body Auger Scholarship worth £5,000
  • The RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships support architecture students enrolled in the second year of a RIBA Part 2 course with funding and the opportunity to be mentored by an architect member of the Wren. The scheme, which was set up in 2013 with the intention to be awarded annually for a period of five years, is now entering a second cycle and a renewed commitment by the Wren Insurance Association to support talented students at a crucial stage of their careers. The deadline for applications is Monday 21 May 2018.

The RIBA AHR Stephen Williams Scholarship supports postgraduate students of architecture enrolled in schools of architecture with RIBA-validated courses in the UK and abroad with funding and the opportunity to be mentored by an architect. The scholarship is funded by AHR, and has been named in memory of Stephen Williams, a past director. The scholarship aims to support talented students who have the potential to make a significant contribution to architecture. The deadline for applications is Friday 22 June 2018.

The RIBA Boyd Auger Scholarship supports architecture students and graduates in their personal, professional and academic development by funding a period of imaginative and original research lasting between 6 and 12 months, which involves carefully planned and budgeted periods of international travel. The scholarship, funded by Mrs Margot Auger in memory of her late husband, the architect and civil engineer Boyd Auger, was first awarded in 2008 and to date has funded 16 talented recipients. The deadline for applications is Friday 22 June 2018.

Speaking today, RIBA President Ben Derbyshire said:

“We are extremely grateful to the Wren Insurance Association, AHR, and Mrs Auger for their generosity and for their renewed support of future generations of architects over so many years. I wish all students luck with their applications, and look forward to following their success as they enter the profession and contribute to its development with their talent and exciting new ideas.”
