This week we’ve been at Cityscape Global 2018, the Middle East’s largest real estate conference and exhibition. Taking place in Dubai, Cityscape is a global industry event attended by over 45,000 professionals ranging from developers and investors to architects, designers, financiers and consultants.
Participating in a mix of talks, panels and business hubs, some of our members addressed regionally relevant topics such as: Artificial Intelligence: An Exciting Future in Construction Technology, Catering to the Gen Y: Designing with Millennials in Mind and What Makes a Building Truly Iconic. RIBA President Ben Derbyshire gave the keynote presentation on How Effective Design Can Foster Wellbeing and Happiness.
Through the Cityscape conference, and an accompanying PR programme of press and radio interviews, we were able to take our message out to audiences across the Gulf region and communicate the value of RIBA Chartered Practices and Chartered Members.
We worked in close partnership with the Department for International Trade (DIT) on this activity, which demonstrates the importance the Government places on UK architecture as a global export. In addition to the conference we co-hosted a RIBA/DIT branded exhibition stand, held a joint networking reception at the British Embassy, and took 15 practices on a trade mission to Saudi Arabia.
