RIBA launches House of Architecture public consultation

Find out how you can help to shape this transformative programme.

20 May 2024

Today we have launched the first phase of public consultation for House of Architecture, seeking feedback on our ambitious investment programme.

The consultation includes two exhibitions – one in London at 66 Portland Place and another in Liverpool at RIBA North – which will be open to our members, stakeholders, and the wider public from Monday 20 May until Wednesday 12 June.

The exhibition, which can also be found online, outlines the vision behind House of Architecture and progress to date, providing detail on the three-pronged £85 million investment.

From plans to bring together our world-class collections and upgrade our digital technology, to sensitively refurbishing our 66 Portland Place headquarters to make it more accessible, sustainable and welcoming – House of Architecture will transform our member offer and help us promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of architecture around the world.

This first phase of public consultation will be followed by a second round, scheduled for September 2024.

The exhibitions at 66 Portland Place and RIBA North will be open from Monday 12 May until Wednesday 12 June, available to visit during regular opening hours.

Everyone is also invited to join drop-in sessions, hosted at both locations, where you will have the opportunity to meet the project team, ask questions, and share your thoughts.

Commenting on the consultation launch, RIBA Board Chair, Jack Pringle, said:

“House of Architecture is an ambitious programme of work that is critical to RIBA’s future and our mission to advance architecture for the benefit of society. It will enable us to continue playing a leading role in supporting, educating and championing architects, across the UK and beyond. It will also help us to ensure that architecture is accessible to anyone with a passion for it. This first phase of public consultation will be critical to our developing programme, and I hope that as many people as possible get involved and share their thoughts.”

RIBA President, Muyiwa Oki, added:

“To meet our full potential and future challenges, RIBA needs all the capabilities of a high performing organisation. House of Architecture is about ensuring our foundations are secure, and we need your input to shape the programme.”
