RIBA Yorkshire held their Annual General Meeting on 2 December with Dan Brown, Associate and Head of MMC Delivery at HLM Architects, re-elected as Chair of the Regional Council. The meeting provided the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of the council under Dan’s leadership in the previous two years.
Dan presented the Chairs report, highlighting how the Yorkshire groups and branches have continued to adapt and thrive using effective virtual platforms with 19 member events held between January and November 2021 and almost 1,300 attendees. A flourishing programme of digitally delivered events including virtual building tours, new network group meetings to support small practices and branches engaged members and the wider community.
Since September, we have also seen a welcome return to in person events, such as the Leeds Society of Architects Walking Tour and activities as part of York Design Week, allowing our members to reconnect with each other and our communities.
Thank you to all those involved on the Regional Council, the branches and group members who are a vital part of the strength of a local RIBA.
