Are you thinking strategically, pushing materials to the limits, designing better systems as well as buildings? If so, we want to hear from you.

Last year stellar judges identified 10 of the most talented, socially aware, promising practitioners of the rising generation to join the second cohort of RIBAJ Rising Stars (see 2017 judge Mary Duggan's comments below). From designing and project managing a women’s centre in Bangladesh and running the V&A extension, to planning urban design and making continuous client-side improvements, this award recognises design in its widest sense. The 2017 entries revealed a brave and resourceful lot.

Thousands of architects, clients and influencers saw the Rising Stars’ stories in RIBA Journal, here on ribaj.com and through our social media channels, exposure that will boost the careers of these talented young professionals for years to come. This year it could be you or someone you work with.

To be eligible you should have completed your professional training (Part 2 for architects) 10 or fewer years ago as at Friday 7th September 2018.

We need: Your details: a short biography; why you should be a RIBAJ Rising Star; referee comment; a selection of images and your answer to two questions: What would you most like to improve about the industry? What existing building or place would you most like to tackle?

The value of winning a place in the RIBAJ Risings stars cohort was feeling recognised for hard work; enabling conversations with peers on what the role of the architect really is; giving me confidence to speak about my work; invitations to take part in events as an emerging figure in the industry – Una Breathnach-Hifearnain, Rising Stars 2017 cohort

Once again, Origin is thrilled to be championing the RIBAJ’s Rising Stars.

One of the main reasons for our involvement is that the initiative resonated with us. Like the entrants, Origin is essentially in its infancy in its overall journey and potential. Since out establishment in 2001 we’ve certainly made our mark in the industry by rewriting the norm with our fresh thinking, innovative product developments, unparalleled lead times and unmatched support for our customers.

We believe the future for entrants and Origin alike will be filled with endless opportunities. So we want to embrace that, collaborating with those who share this enthusiasm and passion, and are looking to question the norm and excel from there. This has certainly been the case since we started working with Rising Stars, and I’m excited to see what this year’s entries will bring – as a very high benchmark has been set.

Ben Brocklesby, sales and marketing director, Origin
