The RIBA China Chapter is pleased to initiate the Women in Architecture Digital Nexus (WIADN), an online platform that connects female architects in China and globally, sharing their stories and celebrating their success.
In China, architecture is still a male dominated industry. Globally, although the ratio of women and men enrolled in architecture schools is 50/50, only 15% of female students register as practicing architects. To change the public perception of architecture and shape a more gender balanced industry in China, the RIBA China Chapter wants to amplify the voices of women in architecture to encourage female students to pursue their passion, and overcome obstacles in becoming contemporary practicing architects.
The programme includes talks by high profile figures, round table discussion on key issues, an exhibition ‘She is an architect’ and careers events in colleges and schools.
To mark International Women’s Day, WIADN will also launch a global network for women established in practice and those at the start of their careers, to provide support, exchanging ideas and promote mentoring at every stage of their professional progression.
