The RIBA North East and Yorkshire Student Awards were delivered to celebrate the talent of architecture students to reward them in the pursuit of excellence in the study of architecture.

In May 2017 and in March 2018 a student survey was sent to accredited schools in the United Kingdom on behalf of the RIBA. Just over 1,200 students completed the survey in 2017 and over 900 in 2018 pointing to the scale of the issue and the interest that students have in their mental wellbeing.

From a restored Cathedral to a new center for the YMCA, twelve unique projects are now in the running to win RIBA Regional Awards in the North East.

Twelve buildings have been shortlisted for RIBA North East (Royal Institute of British Architects) Awards 2018; the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Museum Gardens, York on Thursday 24 May.
