It is becoming well understood that architectural practice, along with the construction industry more widely, needs to become smarter about how it demonstrates, with evidence, the value architects bring to the built environment process and product.
Practice based research is a key component of generating that evidence. And we know that this is becoming increasingly important with a near six fold increase in the number of practices submitting their work to the President’s Awards for Research in 2016.
To gain a clearer idea of how these practices came to submitting to the Awards we issued a short questionnaire. The results from that survey and a synopsis of their submission are published in the President’s Awards for Research 2016 Knowledge and Research in Practice.
