BSL Family workshop: Dream Shed

Join deaf architect educators Chris Laing and Martin Glover with RIBA Learning for a morning of creative drawing and making. Be inspired by our world-leading architecture collections and learn design and model making techniques.

The free workshop is aimed at 6 to 12 year olds. Please note all children must be accompanied by an adult in this workshop.

The aim of this fun and creative architecture workshop is to design your dream shed whether for your garden, future garden, or a nearby park. This two hour session offers you the opportunity to create a unique shed, either independently or as a family.

You will build your shed on an A4 baseboard to take home, with the hope of inspiring guardians to bring this vision to life. All materials used in the workshop are recycled to maximise sustainability, and any left over will be recycled appropriately.

This is a fantastic opportunity to explore your creative side in a safe and welcoming environment.

This workshops is for deaf families and educators will be delivering the workshop in BSL. This will be a BSL interpreted event.

This event is currently fully booked. Please email learning@riba.org to join the wait list.

About the educators

Chris Laing, founder of Deaf Architecture Front and a soon-to-be qualified architect, will co-lead the workshop alongside Martin Glover, a qualified architect and art facilitator with over a decade of experience in architects’ practices and four years experience working in the specialist field of mental health and deafness.

Both workshop leaders are Deaf and use BSL but there will be interpreters around.
