The Red House by David Kohn Architects has won the prestigious annual award RIBA House of the Year 2022, awarded to the UK’s best new architect-designed house.
This live event, hosted by architect Kristofer Adelaide, is your chance to hear the story of the winning project from founding director David Kohn, project architect and RIBAJ rising star Jennifer Dyne, client and owner Edward Turner and artist Yinka Shonibare CBE RA. You will also hear from Taro Tsuruta, Chair of House of the Year jury about why the jury crowned The Red House as the ultimate winner.
The Red House takes inspiration from the Arts and Crafts movement, reinterpreting the style in an intentionally provocative way. The house’s playful eccentricity, including oversized eaves, patterned red brickwork, and contrasting bold green details, jumps out - but this is consistently underpinned by outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail.
An important part of the brief was to design a home that was fully accessible and able to adapt to our changing climate patterns.
The discussion will include how the house was designed for accessibility, the role that art can play in buildings, and designing for climate change.
Book your tickets now for what promises to be an exciting and informative evening of architecture, design and style.
