Workshops for families and children

Inspired by the RIBA Collections and seasonal exhibitions, our programme for families and children provides hands-on creative activities for you to explore contemporary themes around architecture including housing, the environment, migration and placemaking.

Our large-scale family days offer an opportunity for you to learn and work together on a variety of drop-in and timed activities including big builds, digital workshops and collaborative installations.

During the school holidays, our one-day and multi-day creative workshops allow you to work individually and in teams to develop creative skills through design and construction challenges.

Our workshops

Design Quest workshops are for children aged 7 to 10 and provide a creative environment where we introduce architecture through play and making.

Design Time workshops are for children aged 11 to 15 and take architectural design and creative experimentation a step further. These were formerly referred to as Design Day workshops.

Our creative workshops run 11am to 4pm, are drop-off and are for all abilities. Workshops are led by artist and architect educators. All materials are included in the ticket price, but you should prepare a packed lunch for your child. Online booking in advance is essential.

We also have courses and workshops for Young People aged 15 to 24.
