Corridors of the City: Walking tour with Anthony Palmer

Join photographer and educator Anthony Palmer to discover the contrasts of London’s newest modern architecture within its historic Square Mile.

The City of London skyline has pushed rapidly upwards over the last two decades. Commonly seen from afar, this walking tour explores how these tall buildings are experienced at street level.

The changes began with Tower 42, which broke through the height restriction on tall buildings in London in 1980. The Grade I listed Lloyds Building followed but it wasn’t until 30 St Mary Axe, the Gherkin, that the rate of change and the cluster of newer steel and glass high-rise office buildings really took off, now topped out by 22 Bishopsgate.

Join photographer and educator Anthony Palmer to experience these vertical views from the narrow lanes of London’s medieval streetscape. Walk through corridors of glass, steel and stone, discover the contrasts of London’s newest modern architecture within its historic Square Mile.
