For children aged 11 to 14 years.
About the event
How was one of the most interesting and unique structures in the UK designed and created? Where did the ideas come from? What could we learn about architecture, shapes ,and patterns from this brilliant building?
Join us for this Eden Project inspired workshop as we investigate pattern, tessellating shapes and experimental building design to create mini models of geodesic domes. We will then expand on these ideas and go large to make an geo dome inspired installation from recycled newspaper sticks as a team.
We will create an environment to interact with and populate our structure with interesting paper model plant life and other creations, creating a visitor experience complete with a souvenir to take home.
This creative architecture workshop for children aged 11 to 14 will be run by artist educator Katie Kennedy.

About the Workshop Series
Our Design Time (previously Design Day) workshops for ages 11 to14 take architectural design a step further by providing context and knowledge of the built environment to spark creativity. Past workshops have focused on different architectural styles, small and large-scale construction methods, traditional and digital drawing techniques, architectural games and using software to design collaboratively in a shared space.
