For students and adults aged 18 and over; all abilities welcome
Create your own digital drawings of the built environment on this artist-led course using iPads. Join digital artist and teacher Wilson Yau for this one-day drawing course at RIBA to explore new ways of making art and learn how to use tablets to develop your drawing skills. The unique architecture of London, RIBA’s own Art Deco headquarters and rarely seen items from RIBA’s historic architectural collections will be our inspiration for this course. Your tutor will support you throughout the day to increase your confidence in this new medium and experimenting with contemporary digital illustration.
Suitable for all abilities, whether you are new to digital drawing or an experienced practitioner looking for inspiration. iPads are provided but you are also welcome to bring your own. We will be using Procreate as our principle drawing app.
In this workshop you will:
- build new or improve your existing digital drawing skills
- increase your confidence in drawing through a range of short and in-depth practical drawing exercises
- learn how to use an iPad and Procreate app to create a portfolio of original architectural work inspired by the built environment
- be guided by an experienced teacher and artist with a background in architecture and digital drawing, who will give you support and regular feedback throughout the day
- gain a more in-depth understanding about the buildings and architectural styles of London and beyond
- use a variety of unique spaces to create your drawings: the Clore Learning Studio, RIBA building and exhibition galleries
