Join us for a tour of ‘Difficult Sites: Architecture Against the Odds’ with exhibition Curator, Pete Collard. The exhibition features projects that demonstrate how architects have often produced their finest work when confronted with a challenging site.
The projects featured in this exhibition demonstrate the skill, craft, and creativity of the architect in meeting the requirements of the client brief and budget while working in the most difficult of conditions.
Through original drawings, photography, models, and plans we invite you to join Pete and look at how resilient and creative practitioners are in realising the inconceivable against the odds.
This event is for anyone aged 55 or over that has an interest in discovering more about architecture, with a chance for discussion and refreshments in the Clore Learning Centre.
Free, please book a place.
Exploring Architecture is a monthly free event at 66 Portland Place, usually on the first of the month based in the Clore Learning Centre. Each month will take a different format, including tours, creative activities and special insights into the RIBA Collections with an opportunity to socialise.
Pete Collard has been Exhibitions Curator at RIBA since 2017, curating exhibitions on a variety of architectural themes and histories including the centenary of the Becontree Estate, the legacy of the Bauhaus movement and Britain, and the potential for creating net/carbon zero architecture via the circular economy.
