Family workshop: Classical clay

Join us for an afternoon of moulding, squeezing, and carving with clay. This workshop is aimed at 6 to 12 year olds, all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Join our RIBA Learning team for an afternoon of moulding, squeezing, and carving with clay.

We’ll look to classical architecture and the RIBA Collection for inspiration in designing and building our own façade; cookie-cutting bricks and bases, squeezing columns and cornices, and decorating capitals and pediments. You’ll also use collage to develop your façade designs before getting stuck in and learning simple clay moulding techniques, adapting tools to form custom shapes, and assembling a building that wouldn’t look out of place in Ancient Rome.

This workshop will take place in the Clore Learning Centre, on the fourth floor of 66 Portland Place, London.

Limited capacity. Booking essential.

The workshop will be run by Lil Adams and Edie Parfitt from RIBA Learning.

Lil is an artist, jeweller, and educator and Edie is an architectural designer and maker with experience running clay-focused workshops. The RIBA Learning programme provides exciting opportunities for everyone to explore, question, and celebrate architecture.
