J.E.D.I. Talks: Neurodiverse friendly architecture

The J.E.D.I. talks (Just Equity Diversity Inclusion) are hosted by the RIBA NE ‘Change The Record’ campaign group. The J.E.D.I. talks have become a popular platform for discussion on themes varying from flexible working, the impact of the pandemic, racism v. inclusion, gender diversity and the human cost of architecture. We’re excited to announce what’s coming next.

Neurodiverse friendly architecture: Thursday 26 January 2023

Join us for a conversation hearing from inspirational architects and academics who are neurodiverse. Find similarities or deepen understanding on the challenges and superpowers of our experiences in learning & practicing architecture. Whether you’re neurodiverse or not, join the conversation to build understanding and help kickstart much needed awareness.

We’ll be hearing from students, architects and academics, ranging from differing scales of practice from across the UK. We’ll also be joined by Jean Hewitt, an expert in standards for Neurodiverse design.

Everyone is welcome to join our conversation. We endeavour to be a non-hierarchical, value driven group in pursuit of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion in architecture. The discussions take place under Chatham House rules, to safeguard all who participate.

A Zoom link will be sent 24 hours before the event.

(When booking in, please state clearly your name & place of work/university. For security reasons, any anonymous identities will not be able to participate).

Chaired by Chithra Marsh: Associate Director at Buttress Architects

Darren Bray: Director at Studio Bad Architects

Dr Stephen Parnell: Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University
