Live Site Project - Leeds workshop

Join Live Site Learning CIC for a hands-on workshop at MAP’s Grade II listed Hope Foundry in Leeds.

This Live Site Project is open to students studying architecture at Leeds Beckett University and students from Leeds College of Building studying the built environment with a passion for architecture.

This is a fantastic opportunity to learn some new skills in a Grade II listed building. Activities include exercises on-site, exploring measured surveying, condition assessments, approach to repair in a heritage setting. Bournes and Co will be joining the workshop to do a hands-on CPD on Linseed Paint and the day will be wrapped with a small design competition.

Live Site Learning CIC is a non-profit social enterprise that provides on-site experience for architects, students, and people interested in architecture, conservation, and heritage craft. It provides workshops in existing buildings that are undergoing works, are derelict, or in a state of disrepair (normally listed) while giving insight to the different roles and skills that can be used in practice.

The Hope Foundry was built in 1831 and is a stunning Grade II listed building with a longstanding history of making, creating, and inventing, as part of Leeds's proud industrial heritage. Home to Music & Arts Production (MAP) Charity for ten years, their vision is to transform Hope Foundry into a space where everyone can access the creative arts – opening new facilities in 2022 that will benefit the entire community.
