RIBA Bath & Bristol branch are delighted to continue their Architecture And... series. Launched in 2019, we held three sessions which gained momentum in both popularity and success. Last year we took this series online, and will continue this year.
The focus on climate change has alerted more of us to the growing concerns about energy consumption and being more sustainable. As architects, we want to be able to deliver great design, to client specifications and offer solutions that embrace interesting solutions. These talks are a forum to share ideas and experiences, over a lunchtime slot to strengthen the need for more innovative sustainable solutions.
We hope you can join us for "Architecture and sustainability," and listen to a peer to peer debate about different perspectives on their chosen topic concerning sustainable design.
About our presenters
Barefoot Architects is a RIBA Chartered Practice run by architects Sam Goss and Rob Hankey.
Sam studied for both his degree and masters at Sheffield University, gaining a dual first class degree in an innovative new course in Architecture and Landscape in 2003. He subsequently worked for leading sustainable architects Architype in London, and Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios in Bath, where, as a project architect, he delivered award winning education projects in the Schools, Arts and Higher Education Sector.
Architype design spaces that work for people and the planet. Their radical approach combines beautiful Passivhaus design with technical excellence. They keep their promises about building performance and work holistically with clients to create award-winning inspirational and healthy environments. Their diverse and inclusive team of 68 is moving towards full employee ownership, with collaborative studios in Edinburgh, Hereford, and London.
Our guest is Ann-Marie Fallon who is one of the UK’s leading experts on Passivhaus design and has shared her experience at UK and international Passivhaus Trust conferences.
ACAN is a network of individuals within architecture and related built environment professions taking action to address the twin crises of climate and ecological breakdown.
We are in a state of climate and ecological emergency and there is a compelling body of scientific work indicating that this will continue if we do not make ambitious and radical changes as a matter of urgency. ACAN member, and architect at Hopkins Architects, Sebastian Lomas will join us to discuss this topic further.
