We are delighted to invite you to the Cornwall Architectural Trust and RIBA Cornwall Annual Lecture 2021 at the Royal Cornwall Museum, Truro. This years lecture will be presented by Nichola Tasker from English Heritage.

Nichola is the Territory Director for Stonehenge & the West, responsible for the operation of English Heritage sites as visitor attractions in an area stretching from Cheshire to Cornwall and including Stonehenge.

Until 2020 Nichola was Head of National Projects for English Heritage and as such, was responsible for the delivery of all the large and complex construction projects undertaken by the charity since its launch and separation from Historic England in 2015. This role included delivery of over £15m per annum of conservation repair projects on the monuments of the National Collection and creative re-use and new architectural interventions on EH’s historic sites.

This work culminated in projects to deliver both the RIBA Stirling Prize shortlisted Tintagel Castle Footbridge, Cornwall and the new Education Centre, Walmer Castle, Kent – both of which recently won National RIBA awards: Tintagel Bridge being shortlisted for the Stirling Prize, Walmer Education Centre shortlisted for the Stephen Laurence Prize and English Heritage overall being shortlisted for RIBA Client of the Year 2021. She was also responsible for EH’s conservation programme to the Iron Bridge, part of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, Shropshire - a project which won the Europa Nostra Conservation Award in 2020.

Nichola is a conservation architect and prior to her roles at English Heritage has worked as a conservation and heritage consultant in private practice and in strategic client roles on a number of high status historic estates including those belonging to Historic Royal Palaces, the National Trust, the Churches Conservation Trust and the Landmark Trust.

She is currently Chairman of Trustees for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and is a member of the National Trust Council.
