RIBA Cornwall: Radical Rural Acre Ideas and Drawing workshop

Take part in a collaborative event with students at Falmouth University to uncover innovative ideas that could help tackle the housing crisis for local people in Cornwall.

Architects are invited to collaborate with Homes for Cornwall, a new community led group seeking to tackle the housing crisis for local people in Cornwall one radical acre at a time.

On 21 March 2024 the call for collaboration launches with a design workshop with architects and students hosted at Falmouth University School of Architecture.

You will work with students for the evening to generate ideas in response to a brief for a single notational rural acre. How can a single acre be used to create a new rural home response that could be developed and used by communities throughout the Southwest?

A reportage illustrator will work alongside students and architects on the evening and the ideas generated will be showcased in a Radical Rural Acre ‘Homes for Cornwall’ EXPO in May 2024.

Format of the event

The attendees will be divided into teams, each with a unique brief and each allocated 1 acre of rural edge land. There will be two hours of design time followed by group reflection.
