RIBA Exeter: Papercutting Workshop

Scalpels at the ready! Take part in this three-hour workshop exploring the fundamentals of paper cutting, led by printmaker and architect Sue Potter.

Spend the morning experimenting with techniques that bring different qualities to paper - exploring shape, light and texture.

All equipment is provided, but you can bring your own tools and materials if you have something you would like to work with.

About Sue Potter

With a background in graphic design and architecture, Sue Potter’s work explores the graphic flat colour achieved from the relief process, the depth and surface texture of intaglio, the complexity and simplicity of geometry and the visual playfulness of pattern and repetition.

Sue specialises in blind embossing, a technique that creates ethereal surface textures. She has also been experimenting with cutting and folding the embossed surfaces to introduce an additional layer of texture and three-dimensionality to her work.

A highly regarded local creative, Sue is based in Devon and regularly exhibits her pieces both locally and at Make Southwest. Her work was selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in 2023.
