RIBA Hello China! Holds Digital Talks Series 2 with Atelier founder Li Xinggang, chief architect of China Architecture Design & Research Group, visiting professor of Tianjin University and design tutor at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University.

Join us on 22 August 10.00am – 11:00am (BST) for the second digital talk in our series of Hello China! This exclusive lecture is by Atelier founder Li Xinggang, chief architect of China Architecture Design & Research Group, visiting professor of Tianjin University and design tutor at the School of Architecture, Tsinghua University.

The talk will cover Li Xinggang’s project highlights: the Xanadu Museum site, Jixi Museum, Tianjin University’s new campus gymnasium, the ‘Third Space’ in Tangshan, Xanadu Visitor Center and the renovation of No.28 Dayuan Hu Tong. Plus a Q&A session to follow.

Li Xinggang will share his architectural ethos which comes from a blend of modernism and tradition. His design approach creates powerful forms using integrated geometry and landscape as inspiration. He is also deeply concerned with how architecture affects the human experience of place.

His practice was honoured with design awards including the Gold Award of ARCASIA Awards for Architecture (2019), the WA Chinese Architecture Awards (2014, 2016, and 2018), ArchDaily Building of Year Award (2018) and Gold and Silver awards of the National Excellent Engineering Investigation and Design Awards.

Li Xinggang also received the China Youth Science and Technology Award (2007) and the esteemed National Engineering Survey and Design Master Award (2016), as well as taking part in major architecture exhibitions across China and abroad (Venice Architecture Biennale, 2008). His solo architecture exhibition 'Integrated Geometry and Poetic Scenery ' was held in Beijing (2013).
