RIBA North East: Sustainability mastermind - Biophilic design

Join us for our next ‘Sustainability Mastermind’ where we will welcome Henry Amos of Brightblue Studio to speak about Biophilic Design.

Join Henry Amos of Brightblue Studio on 30 November for our next ‘Sustainability Mastermind’ session. Henry will be speaking about Biophilic Design and answering your questions throughout the Q&A.

A few words from Henry Amos:

"Interested in blending extra-ordinary places with investigation, my primary areas of activity are mixing my understanding of human culture with the natural world. I have been asked to talk about Biophilic Design, which luckily for you, is partly how Biophilia afflicts me: So for a moment at least, we have the same focus.

Otherwise I might end up talking about the oak houses of wasps (which incidently were recycled into ink used to write the Magna Carta).

I don't claim to manage to effect biophilic design throughout my activities, but having a serious go brings me a lot of fun and joy, and through which I learn more and more about our surroundings.

I run a little atelier architecture practice that enables me to pursue what I want to do without a lot of control, and partly reflected in the name – Brightblue Studio. And Atelier means I gather a group of people and resources around whichever project is in focus at the time. It also means I am not responsible directly for their actions. That can be fun and free, and at times galling: until we have to put pen to paper.

So at the end of November, I will share with you some of my view of Biophilic Design, and a little of our latest blended multi sensory biophilic essay."
