RIBA Plymouth annual lecture 2025: Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and the Feilden Foundation

Join Rachel Sayers, Partner at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, to learn more about the increasing cross overs between the practice’s work and that of the Feilden Foundation.

During this insightful lecture, Rachel Sayers from Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and Trustee of the Feilden Foundation will share the parallels and influence in the work carried out through the Feilden Foundation and its publications, including projects completed with MASS Design Group.

Rachel will also share how a foundation linked to a pioneering practice can be inspiration for how students and local practitioners might think beyond simply receiving commissions for work from clients, to leading the generation of projects and partnerships for progressive future making.

Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios are a RIBA Award winning practice known for their pioneering work in sustainable design and social design agenda and work across a wide range of sectors and has expertise in heritage, retrofit, and low carbon architecture.

About the Feilden Foundation

The Feilden Foundation was set up in memory of Richard Feilden who was a champion of education for all. Africa inspired them to share their skills and enthusiasm in order to make the world a better place. The foundation works in their name and inspiration.

In relation to Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, the foundation uses professional expertise in building productive, innovative, and successful educational infrastructure to develop effective centres of primary, secondary, tertiary, and vocational learning across the African continent.

About the venue and accessibility

The Roland Levinsky Building is the University of Plymouth's flagship arts, cultural and teaching facility, completed in 2007 by Henning Larsen Architects and BDP. It is located at the south of the university campus opposite the Drake Circus Shopping Centre.

  • there is step-free access throughout the building via lift(s)
  • there are doors in corridors/walkways which have to be opened manually
  • there is some flooring in corridors/walkways which is shiny and could cause issues with glare or look slippery to some people
  • there is high colour contrast between the walls and floor in all areas
  • there is a mixture of seating with and without armrests at regular intervals
