RIBA Plymouth branch are delighted to bring you their 2022 annual lecture: Resilience and diversity
The RIBA Plymouth branch will welcome three distinguished speakers to discuss challenges and opportunities facing the architecture profession and wider society in recent years: post-Grenfell, post-climate emergency declarations, post-Covid pandemic, post-Brexit.
Speakers
Denitza Moreau - Design Director, ISG
Denitza Moreau is Design Director at ISG, a multi-disciplinary global construction company, and was previously Design Management Academy Lead at Skanska Construction. Prior to that, she was Senior BIM Manager and Strategy Lead at Sir Robert McAlpine. She has also worked in practice as an architect at a number of leading firms including Woods Bagot, Swanke Hayden Connell, and Project Orange. She has also taught at Cardiff and East London.
Dr. Helena Rivera - Founder, A Small Studio
A Small Studio was longlisted by Dezeen as ‘Emerging Architect of the Year’ (2020) and selected by the Architecture Foundation as part of their ‘New Architects 4’ series (2021). A Small Studio works in community engagement, urban research, landscape, and architectural projects. Helena is a visiting lecturer in Landscape Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Greenwich, with a PhD in Regional Planning from the Bartlett School of Planning, UCL on British housing policy.
Sumita Singha OBE - Founder Ecologic Architects
Sumita is an award-winning architect, teacher, and writer including the UIA-UNESCO International, Women in Business, and Atkins Inspire, and has received an OBE for services to architecture in 2021. She founded Architects for Change and the Equality Forum at RIBA, and is past Chair of Women in Architecture. She is a nationally elected RIBA Councillor. She has taught sustainable design for over 25 years in the UK and is Visiting Professor at the Politecnico di Milano.
The evening will begin with a short presentation by each speaker on their practice, followed by a chaired discussion session with the speakers and the audience, followed by drinks and snacks provided by the student-led Plymouth Architecture Society.
