We will be joined by guest speaker Phil Easton, RIBA CA, Director from Western Design Architecture. Phil will give us an in-depth account of the processes involved in researching and investigating to restore, conserve, convert, extend, modernise, and landscape 18th century thatched cob houses, using 18th to 21st century technologies.

In a very short time, Phil will cover most of the major problems (of which there are many) encountered during a typical thatched cob restoration project, sharing examples mostly from Milton Abbas.

Phil will also touch on the rights and wrongs of converting buildings, originally workers hovels, into very valuable houses, fit for the pages of Country Life magazine.
