This event will be hosted by Faisal Mohsin, RIBA USA Chapter chair -Washington DC, who will introduce the guest speaker Alastair Hall, founding partner Hall McKnight.
Hall McKnight is an architectural practice established in 2003 with studios in Belfast and London. The practice's work has been recognised with success in international design contests, notably the MAC Arts Centre, completed in February 2012 for which the practice won the Downes Medal for the awarded by the Architectural Association of Ireland. They constructed a special installation titled 'Unique Instruments, Expectant Spaces' for the 2018 Architecture Biennale in Venice, to explore the idea that architects must address the ‘unspoken wishes of strangers’.
In November 2016, Hall McKnight were announced as the winners in an international competition for a major new campus building and landscape work at Gallaudet University, Washington DC. America's only University specifically designed for the deaf, setting a new standard for human-centred design long before such terms become commonplace.
This event is open to RIBA Members and non-members.
