RIBA Wiltshire: Daniel Agdag exhibition visit at Messums West

Enter a space where architecture and art meet for an afternoon with RIBA Members at Messums West. We’ll take time to explore Daniel Agdag's Tide Houses exhibition followed by tea, coffee, cake and conversation in the café.

As well as a discussion about the exhibition and the space Messums have created in Wiltshire, we’ll also take time to hear from attendees and what they would like to see from their local RIBA branch. It is the perfect opportunity to meet other members in the area.

Refreshments are included with your booking.

About the artist

Daniel Agdag is an artist and filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia who creates highly detailed sculptural pieces that have been described as architectural in form, whimsical and antiquated in nature and inconceivably intricate.

Agdag principally uses boxboard, glue and a scalpel and deliberately keeps his process very simple but the outcome is extremely complex. He is drawn to the monochromatic nature of his chosen materials and creates structures which resemble architectural forms and machines.

He takes inspiration from the overlooked mechanisms that enable the industrialised world to function, and often explores the playful realms of invention and imagination.

For Agdag, the tonal quality of the boxboard emulates building materials, reminiscent of stone, steel and timber.

About Messums West

Started as Messums Wiltshire in 2016 within a 13th century Tithe Barn by Johnny Messum, the business has established venues and arts communities in the west and east of England connected with an exhibiting space in London.
