Join us for a behind the scenes visit to the National Award-winning Blackburn Meadows Renewable Energy Plant, EON’s landmark biomass power station. This striking collection of buildings in black profiled steel, brick and orange illuminated polycarbonate with green roofs reflects Sheffield’s industrial heritage whilst making a bold statement about the future of the city.

The plant became operational in 2014 and has picked up several design awards since completion. Starting with a presentation in the on-site visitors centre, we will get the chance to see the site through dusk as the buildings are lit and enjoy the recently completed landscaping which is also illuminated. We will follow the journey of the waste wood through the plant, travel up the conveyor and see into the boiler house itself.

Due to safety restriction places are very limited.

Visitors – please report to the gatehouse on arrival and ensure that sturdy shoes are worn for the plant tour. All other PPE will be provided.

The tour will be hosted by Steve Marshall and Mihalis Walsh from BDP and site Manger Luke Ellis from clients, EON.
