RIBA Yorkshire Small and Emerging Practice Group: AlterNATIVE Constuction - Air Quality

Join us for a talk with Sally Walker of Native Architects on air quality, sustainable design, and the impact of green building materials.

Join the RIBA Yorkshire Small and Emerging Practice Group led by Paul Wainwright, for a highly anticipated follow-up talk with Sally Walker of Native Architects, focusing on Air Quality in the built environment, a topic that received significant interest following her presentation at NYSA Industry Updates: AlterNATIVE Construction in Harrogate.

Sally Walker, founder of Native Architects, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to sustainable and responsible architecture. Her practice is guided by strong environmental values, with a focus on designing developments that minimise environmental impact while enhancing the quality of space for those who use it. Her approach champions natural, low-impact materials and seeks to promote health and well-being through thoughtful design.

As part of this ethos, Native Architects collaborated with the Department of Environment and Geography at the University of York on a research project exploring the relationship between building materials and indoor air quality. The findings were published in 'The Effect of Green Building Materials on Indoor Air Quality in Residential and Commercial Buildings in North Yorkshire, UK' by Oliver Anderson. This talk will explore the outcomes of that study and offer insights into the practical application of its findings.

This is an excellent opportunity for architects and construction professionals to gain a deeper understanding of how material choices can influence indoor air quality — a vital aspect of sustainable design.
