RIBA’s current exhibition Long Life, Low Energy: Designing for the Circular Economy shows how contemporary practice is proposing ways to create net zero architecture for the future. As part of the exhibition public programme, a series of three panel events will bring the conversation out of the gallery, each focusing on a different aspect of sustainability in architecture.
The first event will explore the topic of architectural reuse and retrofit, a practice that has grown significantly in recent years, but one will need to increase further to meet net-zero targets; it is estimated that around half of all ‘new’ construction projects will need to feature the direct reuse of existing building stock.
Chaired by RIBAJ editor Eleanor Young, the event will feature three speakers from practices on display in the exhibition, who will present their latest work and research in the field:
