Join us on an architectural crash course to learn the basics of key architectural movements and need to know architects throughout history, through to the present day and looking forward to the future. Working in groups, you will research ideas, put together a sourcebook of useful information, images and concepts and then working to a brief. You will use your newfound knowledge to inspire and create a building design inspired by the styles and designers of your choice.
Expect to come away from this course with a basic overview of architectural history, architectural language, design movements, building styles and key architects. It will also provide an opportunity to learn new design and research skills and experience what it might be like to study architecture in the future.
This creative architecture workshop is led by educator Katie Kennedy, for young people aged 15 to 18 years.
This workshop is adapted from a two-day course held in April 2022, repeated as an online workshop.
