Tales of Yester-Queer at RIBA North exhibition opening

Join us at RIBA North for the exhibition opening of Tales of Yester-Queer: A retrospective exhibition of the LGBTQIA+ clubbing scene in Liverpool (1980s and 1990s). This exhibition forms part of the Pride House Liverpool programming for the 2023 Eurovision song contest.

Join us at RIBA North for the exhibition opening of Tales of Yester-Queer: A retrospective exhibition of the LGBTQIA+ clubbing scene in Liverpool (1980s and 1990s).

As part of Pride House Liverpool at RIBA North, Tales of Yester-Queer explores the lives and experiences of the people who occupied clubbing spaces in Liverpool, as well as the music, fashion, and culture of the period.

The exhibition includes vinyl records of the popular music within the LGBTQIA+ community; photographs from within the nightclubs; and statements of experiences and memories which promote visibility, to transport the audience back to the space and time.

During the exhibition opening, guests are invited to explore the rest of Pride House Liverpool, including the cafe, community stalls, and our secondary exhibition, OUT of Space. This exhibition explores queer spaces and materials from within the RIBA Collections and was curated by RIBA's internal LGBTQ+ Community group and library team.
