About the market

Classic Georgian architecture, with its roots in the 18th and early 19th centuries, is characterised by symmetry, proportion, and classical elements. Modern Georgian architecture holds great potential and opportunities for developing following areas:

  • Real Estate Development There is a growing trend of creating new residential or commercial developments that mimic Georgian styles. Homebuyers or businesses often seek classic architectural aesthetics with modern construction techniques and amenities. Georgian-style homes are frequently associated with prestige.
  • Architectural and Planning Consulting and Expertise Consulting for projects that need to adhere to traditional Georgian designs and lifestyle, whether for new builds or restoration, provides an opportunity for architects with expertise in this area. Expertise in historical preservation adds to the value. Educational Programmes and Workshops: Offering courses or workshops for architects, builders, or enthusiasts interested in Georgian architecture could be a way to capitalize on the style’s enduring popularity.
  • Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Restorations With the rise of eco-friendly building practices, companies that offer sustainable renovations of Georgian properties—such as improving energy efficiency without compromising historical integrity—can appeal to environmentally conscious buyers or investors.
  • Interior Design and Furniture Interior designers can specialise in Georgian design elements such as ornate plasterwork, grand staircases, and traditional furniture styles like Chippendale or Hepplewhite. Custom furniture makers focusing on Georgian reproduction pieces also find a niche in the high-end market.
  • Tourism and Hospitality Due to Georgia’s tourism potential, hospitality developers convert Georgian-style buildings into boutique hotels, leveraging the historical appeal of the architecture to attract tourists. Areas with a high concentration of Georgian architecture can promote cultural tourism, emphasising the historical and architectural significance of these buildings.
  • Restoration and Renovation Many original Georgian buildings are considered heritage properties. Architectural restoration offers niche opportunity for specialist in this area. Modernising Georgian houses while preserving their classical elements appeals to luxury home buyers.
