Join the York Architectural Association and York’s vibrant community of property and construction professionals for the highly anticipated launch of the 2025 York Design Awards.

This event is an opportunity to learn all about this year’s awards, connect with like-minded professionals, and gain valuable insights from our esteemed guest speaker, Professor Lorraine Farrelly, architect and founding professor and Head of the School of Architecture at the University of York.

Professor Farrelly is leading the development of York’s new architecture school, fostering a research and teaching environment focused on urban regeneration, community engagement, and sustainable design. She has authored numerous books and academic papers on design quality and urban regeneration and has played a key role in research projects, including an AHRC-funded study on community consultation and an EU-funded project on affordable and sustainable social housing.

She has also served as Chair of SCHOSA (Standing Conference of Heads of Architecture) and the RIBA New Courses Group, advising on architecture education policy and curriculum development globally. Her work in design review has shaped strategic urban and architectural projects across the UK and beyond.

7:15pm: Keynote speech by Professor Lorraine Farrelly, followed by audience Q&A
