Why are acoustics in interior environments important?

Noise reverberation in building interiors plays a big role in well-being. Excess noise can negatively impact occupants, increasing anxiety and stress, cognitive fatigue, lowering productivity, and creating distractions.

Creating spaces that promote well-being is not just a trend but a vital evolution in modern design. Thoughtful acoustic integration in interiors supports focused work, relaxation, and social interaction, thereby enhancing the overall well-being of occupants physically and mentally.

By specifying acoustics that enhance comfort and productivity and using materials that minimise environmental impact, we foster healthier living and a greener environment.

What role does sustainability play in your business?

Sustainability has been a part of the Autex core values since their inception and plays a crucial role in every decision made from procurement to end-of-life.

They're now looking beyond sustainability to embrace nature-positive and regenerative design practices where a product can have a positive impact on the climate, ecosystem, and human well-being.

By investing in design and research, pioneering new recycling systems, and building partnerships with other companies that share a similar ethos, Autex aim to inspire the industry to contribute to building the world we desire.

What drives product innovation at Autex Acoustics?

Their design team are constantly looking for new ways of working, as is evident in every decision made regarding product design, manufacturing, transportation, and day-to-day operations.

As designers and manufacturers, they believe it is their duty to ensure products are environmentally responsible, from sourcing sustainable materials to implementing efficient recycling and reuse practices.

Likewise, a culture of curiosity is ingrained in who Autex are and impacts all the decisions they make, having many conversations with the market to understand what is needed, and this information helps to direct the team around the solutions and systems they design.

What's currently on Autex’s design agenda?

The industry has a waste issue, so there is a demand for solutions that find ways to repurpose and recycle the materials we have access to, extend their life, and keep them out of landfills.

Their big focus has been creating something truly circular, ensuring the materials created can be repurposed repeatedly. The latest creation, SpinFix™ —an adhesive-free mounting system—is made from manufacturing offcuts. Circular by design, SpinFix™ prevents contaminants from being added to the material at installation, improving the ease of reuse and recycling at end-of-life.

In addition, they are constantly examining different materials and how to work with them. Autex aren't afraid to explore the unknown and take the opportunity to learn from experts in different fields to ensure they are at the forefront of design.
