The launch of Nottingham and Derby’s RIBA Women in Architecture network took place on Wednesday 25 September at Nottingham's Urban Room.

During Spring/Summer 2019, seven RIBA Architecture Ambassador partnerships took place across Leicestershire as part of the RIBA's National Schools Programme.

The aims of my manifesto will be to establish both inward and outward looking opportunities for our profession, society and the environment. As RIBA East Midlands Regional Chair, I look forward to working with the enthusiastic regional team to develop our goals together, using these themes as a starting point.

It's clear that over the course of the last few years, that the number of RIBA members attending Northamptonshire Society of Architects (NSA) meetings and indeed the frequency of meetings had noticeably dropped, and I felt this was something I could help with improving. In my opinion in order to become a stronger, more valuable group, and one that can reach out to the wider community, we need to go back to basics and get to know each other better first.

The recent Annual General Meeting of the Lincolnshire Society of Architects (LSA) at Lincoln’s Urban Room, saw the election of a new President, Jonathan Thorns of BE Design. Here he gives his thoughts on objectives for the branch during his term in office.

The 146th Annual General Meeting of the Leicestershire and Rutland of Architects (LRSA) was held on Friday 14 June and saw the appointment of a new president, Adam Smith, along with the re-election of Sylvester Cheung as joint president of the LRSA. A motion was passed to allow Sylvester to continue for a third year, with the proposal that the role of LRSA president will continue as a joint role with one president being replaced each year to maintain continuity.

Sam Culling, RIBA East Midlands Chair, welcomed over 150 guests to the 2011 RIBA Award winning Newton Building (designed by Hopkins) at Nottingham Trent University on 9 May. As ever, it was a fantastic evening to celebrate the best in East Midlands architecture.
